A hedgehog sleeps in the grass, round as a ball. Go on, tickle him gently, Noah! Tickle, tickle – and he uncurls.
The barn door is shut, and someone is waiting behind it. Go on, call, Noah! Hello, hello – and a horse calls back.
Under the bridge it is dark and hollow. Go on, clap, Noah! Clap, clap – and the bridge claps back.
A sailing boat lies still at the jetty. Go on, blow again, Noah! Blow, blow – and the sail puffs round.
In the cave lies a stone with stripes. Go on, stroke it, Noah! Stroke, stroke – and it is all warm.
The sand is smooth, with no footprints at all. Go on, stamp, Noah! Stamp, stamp – and there stand your feet.
Out on the water a boat goes by. Go on, wave, Noah! Wave, wave – and somebody waves back.
A seagull sits on the post and watches. Go on, show her something, Noah! Show, show – and she tips her head.
In the dune grass stands a little bell. Go on, shake it, Noah! Ring, ring – and the whole hill listens.
The way home is long, and it is getting dark. Go on, sing, Noah! Sing, sing – and the way gets short.
Now it is quiet, and you have done it all. Go on, yawn, Noah! Yawn, yawn – and your eyes fall shut.
