Behind Heldio
Hi, I’m Matthias.
I’m the dad of a little boy who has just turned one, and we live near Basel. The idea for Heldio came to me one evening while reading to him: how lovely would it be if he were the main character himself, painted like a real picture book? That became Heldio: from a single photo, a watercolour picture book in which your child is the hero of the whole story.

What Heldio does
You tell us in one sentence what the story should be about, let us suggest three ideas, or take one of our stories as a starting point. Then you upload a photo and write a dedication. We write the story for your child and paint it in warm watercolour, 13 double pages, as a digital book or a printed hardcover. And the best part: you read the whole story and see your child finished on the cover and the first pages before you pay.
Who's behind Heldio
Heldio is a product of Miraix Creators by M. Rötzer, an independent studio in Allschwil near Basel, Switzerland (UID CHE-255.010.799). We build digital products end to end, from first idea to shipping, including the online shop Kaanela. Learn more about the studio at miraixcreators.com.
What we care about
- See first, pay after: you never buy sight unseen.
- What you upload stays yours. We use it for your book and for nothing else.
- If a page does not feel right, you can have it painted again: free, up to ten repaints per book, before anything goes to print.
- A real person stands behind every book. No anonymous support.
